Iranian film ‘The Cemetery Men’ wins at the 15th Dhaka Int’l Filmfest, Bangladesh.

Iranian short film ‘The Cemetery Men’ wins award at the 15th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh.

Directed by Ali Mardomi, the movie won the jury award at the Spiritual Films section in the closing ceremony of the event.

‘The Cemetery Men’ depicts the story of an old man working in a cemetery who spends most of his time praying for the dead.

He is, later on, joined by a young man with a beautiful singing voice who shares with him some events.

The short, 30-minute film was produced in 2015 by the Urmia branch of the Iranian Youth Cinema Society.

Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) is a biennial film festival held in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Established in 1992, the festival was initially organized on annual basis but became a biennial event since 1995.

The general theme of the festival is “Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society.”

The event dedicated a special section to two recently deceased filmmakers Abbas Kiarostami from Iran and Yeşim Ustaoğlu from Turkey.

The 15th edition of the festival was held in Dhaka from 12 to 20 January 2017.
